2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here's an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 37,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 14 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Sales . . . SMALES!

Was it just me or did anyone else find the ‘Sales’ disappointing this year?  Up and out on Boxing Day to find basically just tat that had been dredged up from, in some shops what seemed like years ago and the odd decent thing, of course most not in my size!  Apparently though this was because a lot of the retailers has their sales before Christmas (my friend who works in retail told me this).
After numerous visits in and out of shops here is what I got
Marks and Spencer
M&S Collection Textured Tunic Dress – £23, Was £39.50
Here it is on, I wore it to the Night Do for my friend’s Wedding.
M&S Collection – Fair Isle Longline Cardigan – £26, Was – £39.50
I also got this jumper from the M&S Indigo Collection, I can’t find a link for it so I’m assuming it’s all sold out.
Finally from M&S I bought this statement necklace which I’ve been eying up for ages, a total bargain at half the price!
Cara Camera Across Body
Cara Camera Across Body – £14.50, Was – £29.00
Lofty Plain Stole – £11, Was £17
Can’t wait for these little goodies to arrive in the post!
Creative Gardens – Donaghadee
This is my favourite sale of all! The Christmas Shop in the local garden centre, this was the one I was dying to get to and did the best at.
These gorgeous little beauties for next year’s Christmas tree should have been around £25 but with the half price sale I got them all for about £12!
Not in the Sale, but I also treated myself to a SELFIE STICK.  Unfortunately it’s not due to arrive until next month, but I cannot wait to use it.  No more excuses for no full length pics anymore.
So how did you guys do in the sales, any bargains?

Christmas 2014

So I left you guys before Christmas on a low, back then I was feeling really low, but the above quote inspired me.  Alongside reminding myself that everything would be ok, eventually; I also had my amazing friends and family who I spent time with and spoke to, which made for a surprisingly really good Christmas!

So here is a round up of my surprisingly good Christmas!!

A morning spent with my crazy cousin’s who ALWAYS make me smile . . . they introduced me to DUBSMASH, haven’t laughed so much with no cares in the world for a long time!

I was spoilt with prezzies, a couple of things I had asked for alongside surprises and some really thoughtful gifts from my amazing friends and work colleagues.

The Dr Marten’s handbag I asked for.

The boots I loved from Office.

Some of my surprises.

The ring I loved from Ruby Bijou and the Butter london nail polish I wanted.

My cousin bless her made a starter for the family all over at my Uncle’s this year and I had to try it before heading back to Dad’s for our Christmas dinner.  She did good although might get her to hold back on the amount of coulee next year or add more melon balls!

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without some Scrooged while we waited for the dinner.

Dad and I had to go for the DIY hats this year, because someone forgot to get the crackers . . . .

Our feast of a dinner, mostly all homemade.

This is what you hold off eating for all day!

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Ferrero Rocher

And putting your feet up in your PJs in front of the TV!

Afternoon and dinner spent with Dad.

Then home to mum for sweet treats and Downton Abbey.

My favourite Christmas sweet treats.

A cuppa and dessert in front of the fire.

After such a great day my main gift was my amazing family and friends!

For Christmas I got a SMILE!!!!

Bah Humbug!

So I’m sitting here with Christmas Day only minutes away and all I can think is bah bloody humbug!

I hate this, because it’s not me, the real me loves Christmas! I look forward to it every year, I’m so excited like a big kid and it’s my favourite time. But this year I’m really feeling what depression is.

I don’t have anything to be overly be depressed about, yes I’ve been through so much shit over the last few years and changes I have no control over are going to happen.  But in all there are people much worse off than me and I have the most amazing friends and family around me.  I’m trying so hard to be happy and excited but the big black hole of depression is bringing me down.

It’s feeding on any small anxiety of little things that upset or worry me and is filling me with dread which is then suffocating my happiness.  I honestly could just hide away alone in my bed tomorrow but instead for others I won’t,  I won’t let this depression win. Yes I’m sad and I don’t understand why, in a way I’m dreading tomorrow too but I know my family and friends will cheer me up and fill me with love.

I know how much my friends and family love me and want to see me happy, they are all there for me and I can never totally explain how much that means to me! So depression I’m going to do my best to forget about you tomorrow and put on a performance that I’m happy. I won’t let others see what you are doing to me and spoil their Christmas and mine!

So if you like me are feeling like this today it’s OK,  you aren’t alone! And if you want to stay in bed all day you do that,  you can be in control of what you want to do! Others may not understand and others may be talking and discussing you behind your back, but hey our lives must be so much more exciting and tasty to feed off than there own! They’re actually the ones I feel sorry for!

Like my friend told me you don’t have to be happy at Christmas, it’s OK! I can always be happy next Christmas.

So I won’t end this with a Merry Christmas, I’ll end it with a Bah Humbug and let’s hope next one we can think together that it’s a happier one!

Yay got my specs fixed! @specsavers

Like I told you in yesterday’s blog I’m looking for a new pair of specs for this new Winter season.  Previously I looked at Specsavers, but I have heard loads of great things about Specspost, a couple of friends have bought from them before and I’ve been considering giving them a go.  So here is my Winter wish list/inspiration from Specspost.
